May 26th

Well today’s update will kind of go with what I wrote about a few days ago, about how time is flying by before our very eyes.

Where am I going with this, well today Angela and I took William for a tour of one of the possible Pre-Schools for him to attend this fall.

It was first off so weird going through there with my ex-wife (it’s great that we can be civil to each other when it comes to matters involving William), but it was just so weird going through there with William, and realizing that this is going to be his first step into his educational process.

William really surprised me with his reaction towards the school, I didn’t know what really to expect from him, but he seemed very excited, and very mature about the whole thing. He was very eager to look around the school and seeing the kids playing around in the classrooms helped him feel more comfortable with the tour. I asked him if he wanted to play with the other kids, he said “naaa, not yet, since I haven’t started school yet.”

The feeling’s going through me during the whole the tour, was I was thinking, “Wow, we are looking at pre-school’s now, in just a blink it will be trips to various University’s.”

I’m already looking into the future, and sending him off to college and he hasn’t even stepped into his first classroom yet. (At least I haven’t married him off, and seeing my grand children already).

Oy, I need to grab a beer and stop thinking about tomorrow (sorry Fleetwood Mac).

You know it’s really sad to think about time passing and watching the world move around you, and thinking that it was only yesterday that an event happened but it was actually years ago.

Yesterday was my cousin Daniel Faber’s graduation from High School, well first that he graduated was as big of a shock to anyone, but also he is now on his way to becoming an adult and facing all the world has to offer (lucky guy). It just felt like it a few weeks ago that he was playing peek-a-boo and chasing my parent’s dog all around their house. It was so great to be able to partake in the celebration of the event, and be at his graduation for support. (His Dad, my uncle Roy was so proud, just look at the picute, he was floating the whole day). Congrats Cuz, you have so much now to look forward to now, just take everthing in stride and remember to have fun with life. (Advice we should all take).

It was weird though Judy and I were talking about it, that all the kids graduating yesterday weren’t even born yet when Judy and I graduated from High School. And then to freak us out even more was that with William now getting ready to start Pre-K in August, he’s now in the mode for school, and we figured out that we would be seeing him graduate (god willing) as Valedictorian (heck I would be happy with him being the class clown) of the class of 2019. God that seems so far away, but I know it will be here in a flash of a second. (Ivy yesterday was going on about Daniel, “It was just yesterday that I took him to Kindergarten for his first day”, I smiled thinking that’s going to be me saying that in 14 years).

Hope all is going well and you’re surviving everything with a grin

Peace

Mike

P.S. Here's an actual sign from the bay area, things are so getting out of hand with gas prices...

After a review of some of my past updates, I have been noticing that they have seemed kind of drawn out, so I have been thinking of being a little more relevant to things happening in my life, and what’s been going through my head (sometimes a very scary thought in itself). Don’t worry I’ll still sometimes have some real “mini novels” to write, but for the most I’ll probably have a paragraph or two a night. Who knows what I’ll write about, but hey it’s going to be entertaining.

Tonight William and I were at the mall for our usual Wednesday night jaunt to Jillian’s, Books-A-Million and the food court for dinner. Tonight though at the mall they had a new car show, and William I played around with a few of the different cars. Usually him behind the wheel and me being chased by the crazy driver. (Not going to even mention the sales people or bystanders that he scared by honking the horn and laughing at them).

After playing a bit we started walking around the mall and looking at a few more cars. We came upon a few Saturn vehicles, so I decided showing him the joy of having a fiberglass body. I told him to watch this; I turned to the car door and slammed my hand into it. He looked shocked when there wasn’t a dent and my hand was fine. He then proceeded to hit the car also. So from that point on he asked what kind of car each one was, every time I said it was a Saturn, BOOM he would punch it and laugh and then go off to the next car. Oy, I think I have created a monster.

I’m watching the season finally of Law and Order, it’s kind of sad to see Jerry Orbach leave the show, but that’s always the fun with the show, none of the original cast members are even on the show anymore, kind of like life, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Well like I told you, short and sweet, I’m out of here.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Peace

A few people have asked me why I haven’t really been commenting on what’s been happening in Iraq and the rest of the world as of late. It just really gets old talking about how the whole invasion of Iraq seems more and more like a mistake. You can really only talk about how sick it makes me feel, seeing the death and despair on both sides, how slowly we are achieving in the total destruction physically and spiritually of the people of Iraq.

How can the President of our country ever justify going in and invading a country without a plan what to do after we “won” against the horrors of Sadam Husseinn? It’s kind of interesting how it seemed to have escalated since his capture. Heck the “war” we fought for three weeks last year against the Iraqi Army almost seems like a cakewalk now compared to what the soldiers and civilians are experiencing daily.

It seems like there is bad news coming out of that part of the world daily, and I could dedicate my whole site to my views on how the Bush Administration is pulling America into the crapper, I will still talk about what ever is on my mind, and if it gets into politics, I wouldn’t hesitate to talk about it, but my life is entertaining enough, and I like sharing what I see and feel everyday with you guys, I will never hold back my feelings or views on such, and I will as always try to remain neutral and open minded as always. If you want to read about the daily horrors in the world as always I recommend Salon.com & of course NPR.org.

Here are a few quickies that have been on my mind:

  • Kudos to the state of Massachusetts for going through and permitting same sex partners to legally marry their partners.
  • Jeers to the Disney Corporation for blocking the release of Michael Moore’s new movie Fahrenheit 9/11. Disney’s reasoning is that they are claiming that they don’t want to put out such a hot politically themed film in an election year.
  • And here’s something pretty funny I found on another site, John Kerry and Lurch from the Adam’s Family separated at birth? You guys be the judge.

Ok one more thing before I call it quit's for tonight, THANK YOU EVERYONE who has been coming to the site and reading about what I like to call a life. Over the weekend we hit the 17,000 hits mark here on Faber's Place, it amazes me anyone would really care about what I think or what happens to me. Hopefuly I can continue entertaining everyone, and enjoy a lot of the changes that will be coming over the next few months (more details coming soon). Thanks again, here's to another 17,000 hope it dosn't take six years to get it.

Peace

With this past Sunday being Mother’s day this seemed kind of appropriate to bring up. The other day I was working with a few friends and after an hour or two of working on this project Steve turned to me and asked what was I doing for my mom for Mothers Day, was I going to get her flowers or a gift. Whenever anyone asks me that if always puts me into a awkward position since it always seems to embarrass them by telling them the truth, that my mom had passed away. Of course I ended up telling Steve, and I got the usual response. It’s nice and such, but it’s always just a little strange and puts both people into a weird place for a few minutes.

It’s weird to think, how something so natural as death makes most people feel uncomfortable. It’s also the same way if someone has come down with a terminal illness it’s something, mostly something that you don’t announce, it’s more of an item that you whisper under your breath. Almost like if you say it too loud a curse will be put on you or a loved one and the ailment will strike again. It used to be funny when my Grandmother used to get together with her girl friends they would all sit together and talk all evening about various going events and such, but you always knew when they talked about something bad happening because the conversation would go something like this…”I WAS DOWN AT THE DELI FOR A NOSH WITH BETTY, WHEN IN WALKED HELEN AND BARRY FROM DOWN THE STREET, BARRY HAD JUST GOTTEN OUT OF THE HOSPITAL, HE HAS prostate cancer. WE SAID HELLO, CHATTED FOR A BIT SHE THEN TOLD US THAT THEY WERE ON THE WAY TO THE DENTEST, HELEN HAS gingivitis, AND I THEN WE WENT SHOPPING AT PENNY’S. OH THEY HAD THE CUTEST OUTFITS…..” You get the point; I don’t need to go further.

I just think that people need to relax about death and disease. It’s a part of life, and if you panic or stress about it life will clobber you anyway. Yes I miss my mom a lot especially this time of the year, but I’m not embarrassed or resentful about how she passed on. It dose suck that she was taken early from us, and never got to witness the greatness of William Jacob, but she’s still with us in spirit and knowing that she always in my memories is a comfort.

Ok, a quick update to my last update, Judy was kind of concerned about everyone’s impression of her from the pictures she saw in the Sex Education book. She wanted me to let you guys know that she has seen that kind of stuff before, but it just took her by surprise to see it at a Borders Bookstore. Oh and she keeps on saying she’s not a PRUDE!

Ok that’s it for tonight, sorry for rambling. Talk to you soon.

Peace

Well here’s something that you just roll your eyes and wonder what the f_ck! Tonight I had picked Judy up at the mall and on the way home she wanted to stop at the grocery store to pick up stuff for dinner. All was fine inside the store and we were only in there for maybe 15 minutes at the most.

When we came out to head home we noticed that a black Honda had illegally parked behind my car and his front bumper had obviously hit the rear of my car. Usually if it’s a little bump it’s no big deal but this guy wasn’t even in a parking spot, so Judy and I figured that the drive of the car must have been picking up an order at the Italian restaurant behind us. I went into the restaurant to talk to the manager, and Judy stayed behind in case driver came back to the car.

The manager of the resturant wasn’t able to identify the driver of the car, but did offer to call the shopping center security. I had figured oh, great, some of rent-a-cop want to be, and we have to wait awhile before they show up. But I was wrong on both points. Before I even made it out of the restaurant the security guard showed up, and asked the problem was in a very professional matter. We started explaining what had happened to the guard, when out of the restaurant came this guy asking what the problem was. The guard asked if this was his car, the guy said yeah. The guard said, “You hit this gentleman’s car, come over here take a look”. The guy looked at the cars and said, “I didn’t do that”. The guard said “well your going to have to say that to the police”, the guard then told Judy to go back into grocery store and get the off duty police officer who was working in the store.

When Judy left, the guard moved his security truck behind the guys car blocking it so he couldn’t get away. And the guy came up to me and said “hey dude, I didn’t mean to hit your car, can’t I just give you some money to make this all go away”. While speaking to me I could smell the reek of alcohol on his breath and started noticing that his eyes were like slits. The security guard then literally got between the two of us and told us both to sit in our car till the police showed up.

A few seconds later Judy came back from the grocery store with a six-foot tall blonde female Fulton County police officer, and the security guard quickly filled her in with the details. The police officer then proceeded to try and talk to the other driver calmly, but he got right in her face, (he was maybe 5’7 at the most) and stared used the “F” word quite liberally. So she decided to call for back up, and a few minutes later two marked police cars showed up to assist the female office.

As soon as the first male officer took a peek at the driver, he asked for license and insurance card, and when he had his last drink. He said like three hours before, the office said they some powerful drinks because I still smell it all over you. He then proceeded to escort the gentleman to back of his police car. When he came back, he then took my information and explained what will happen with the insurance companies.

While we were talking to the officer, I just happened to look our drunk friend in the back of the police car hitting himself in the head very violently. I turned to the officer and said “Ummm the guy in back of the car is hitting himself” To which the female officer said with a slight laugh “they sometimes do that to themselves so they can claim that we beat them up when we picked them up”. What ever the male said to the drunk guy, it definitely kept him still and quite in the back of the car.

Because no one in the restaurant would admit seeing him pull up to the place, they couldn’t arrest him for DUI, (He was claiming his girlfriend was driving, but when he leaving he was all along, hmmm go figure). The male officer said though, that they would impound his car and it would cost him a $150 when sobered up enough to find it. They said they couldn’t keep him on any charges, but they would drive him home and give him proper etiquette lesions at the same time.

All in all there was no real damage to my car other then a slight scratch on my bumper, but we felt great that the situation was handled the way was, and he hit us, because he could of easily killed someone on his way home, with how drunk he was, besides we were quite entertained by the female’s officers stories of people shoplifting sausages and other food items in their clothing. She was a real hoot, and still had a sense of humor while working on mother’s day with two kids at home. It seemed quite longer, but this adventure only took place in 20 minutes. Hats off to everyone who helped us out tonight, it’s actually kind of fun being on the right side of the law for once.

Ok, here’s another one quickly from the weekend, last night Judy and I went on a double date with one of her friends and her fiancé. We met for dinner and then went for ice cream. Right next door to the ice cream place was a Border’s bookstore, and we decided to browse around. The two girls split from the two guys just to talk and chat, as we were making our way through the store I hear a loud “OH MY GOD!!!” and turn around (along with half the other patrons of the store) to see Judy looking beat red, I rushed up to her and Alyssa to see if everything was alright. I came up to them and saw that the two of them were browsing through a Photographic Sex Education Book. Judy said she was just taken by surprise by some of the images, and over reacted to one particular image with a couple using a “TOY”. All I had to do was roll my eyes and walk away, and chalk it up to experience with that woman of mine. I guess Ricky had Lucy, Mike has his Judy.

OK, hope everyone watched the end of Survivor tonight, I could of predicted a few weeks ago that Amber was going win (Boston Rob, had pissed two many people off).

I’ll talk to you soon

Peace

Mike

May 3rd

I’m sitting around tonight watching this made for TV movie on NBC called 10.5, it’s about the West Coast being hit with a series of Earthquakes that threaten to destroy the whole west coast. After seeing the first part of this movie last night I’m starting to think that maybe they weren’t referring to the tremors and Rector scales, but maybe the IQ of anyone who could actually believe this movie could actually have any semblance of reality. The premise of this whole thing is going on the absurd, and I’m not even going to mention the destroying of the Space Needle or the Golden Gate Bridge. Having been through some minor earthquakes when I was in Seattle and Los Angeles (heck I have even slept through a few of them). I had been lucky enough to miss the big one’s in Seattle and Northridge, but have seen the after effects of what can happen. And what they are showing in this movie is way too much to believe, but hey, even B-level actors need work and the chance to act dramatic in the wake of the disaster fits the needs during the May sweeps.

I have been trying to not really write about the horror that’s been going on in Iraq (senseless murders of both Iraqi and Americans) I wanted to write quite a few times about the aftermath in our search for the WMD, but what has been happening there has been so horrific, and the bad news just doesn’t seem to stop over there. I have tried to even go on the slant of “well they are better off now then when Sadam was in power.” I do believe that, but when the U.S. forgot to have a plan what to do after Sadam, you only have to go opps. But seeing how it’s now been a year since George W. landed on the Aircraft carrier to announce how the war was over in Iraq I just am thinking about how many poor individuals have lost their lives after the “war” has ended. I give kudos to Ted Kopple and Nightline for showing the names and pictures of the American soldier in a very honorable way. It puts a face with the folly happening over in Iraq. Even though it’s all good and such, if they really wanted to put a face on Iraq I would have them show all the Iraqi citizens that have perished since the “war” began.

Hey it’s my opinion, take it for what you will.

Hope you all had a great weekend,

Peace

Mike
