'Been a long time gone. No, I ain’t hoed a row since I don’t know when. Long time gone, and it ain’t coming back again' – Dixie Chicks 2002.

Ok, I know it’s been a bit since I did my daily updates, so the chorus of the song above almost seemed quite appropriate. I hope everyone out there had a great turkey day and for my Jewish friends a happy Chanukah. Mine didn't go off as exactly planned but was still nice to spend the time with family. William and I jumped another big hurdle with his first overnight. He handled it like a champ. We had a few tense moments but it went great for his first time. We even went on a road trip to Chattanooga to the Tennessee Aquarium. It was great fun, and a whole lot of fish to see. Heck some of them were even looking at William and going "hmmmm, Lunch?"

Last weekend I drove down to St. Augustine (only a 5 1/2 hour drive from Atlanta) and spent a few days with my Sister and Danny. (see new pictures on the side). It was nice getting to spend time with them (of course seeing the ocean is always a plus for me). It’s amazing of course to see how much Danny is growing. It’s like every time I see him he’s at least 2 inches taller. By this time next year I’ll be looking up at him.

On the job front I have had some really great interviews, so I’m hoping that they will be leading to something consistent real soon. Of course you will be one of the first to know.

Well have lots’ to talk about (the madness that we call the world around us). But will save it for later.

I’m going to be going to see Star Trek – Nemesis on Friday so I’ll give you my thoughts on that, and then on Saturday I’m going to try to take William to see Treasure Planet. Should be fun.

Today’s fun web site is a great one for you bargain hunters, it’s called Slick Deals.com I have already found a new leather office desk chair for only $35 including shipping and handling. Take a peek you never know what you can find since it’s updated daily.

Also here is a link to a great video spoof of the ‘Whazzup’ commercials for the holidays. (Warning will take a bit to load with a slower connection.

Talk to you soon

Peace

Mike

P.S. And people wonder why I’m worried about the world around us.

November 24th

Greetings all, yes it’s another Sunday night and here I am at 11:49 starting to write the new what’s New update. I had all the great intentions to start this about three hours ago, but I got into a great conversation with my friend Jeff from California, it’s been some time since we actually had time to talk. So it was nice to catch up. Life is pretty good; the last week just flew by. Have been busy searching for work and also helping Roy and Ivy around the house and with their business. I came up with a placeholder page for their new web site, take a peek and let me know what you think.

Friday afternoon I went to see the new James Bond movie Die Another Day, the movie stared Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry as the current Bond girl "Jinx". I won’t be ruining anything by telling you that this movie has all the typical Bond gadgets and stunts. The story was a little better then the last few Bond films but had way too much slow motion and the direcector went to heavy on the CGI (Computer Generated Images) for my taste. (I guess we can blame the Matrix on this). Don’t get me wrong; it was worth seeing the film as a matinee. There were some great moments in the film. Like a great cameo by Madonna as a sexy fencing instructor. Or the very underused John Cleese as the new "Q" (not the Star Trek villain), and a fantastic scene towards the end of the movie featuring James and Moneypenny made the whole move for me. I was reading the Atlanta Journal Constitution today, and they brought up three very good points though in how stale James Bond films have gotten. (1)What is the name of last James Bond Villain you remember? (2) What is the newest James Bond movie title you remember off the top of your head? (3) What is the newest James Bond theme song that you can remember? I think Treasure Planet will be the next movie to see.

Otherwise things are going pretty well. I’m just starting to get a little restless in not having much to do during the day. I have been persuing a few good leads for jobs, but we will see if anything pans out. Of course you will be one of the first one’s to hear the details. This week is going to be pretty busy with the Thanksgiving holiday coming mid week. It will be nice though to see Cheryl and Danny again, and spending the time with William will make it even more special.

Well that’s about it for tonight. I hope your all keeping your heads on strait.

Peace

Mike

P.S. If anyone saw the meteor shower last week, I would love to hear your experiences with it. It rained here in Seattle oops I mean Atlanta, so we didn’t see a thing. See ya.

Heya, well I did it and finally went to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets the second in the series of seven Harry Potter novels (and soon to be movies). Overall I really enjoyed this film, in some ways even more then the first one. My sister said it the best, when she said it felt like she was watching the book come alive. I won’t ruin the movie or the book (since the film is actually almost the full book word for word, except for some minor scenes missing); I don’t think you would need to read the books though before seeing the movie (but it dose always help). This film actually felt like you were visiting some old friends and catching up with them. It flowed very well and all the actors seemed very comfortable with their roles (almost like seeing a play in it’s second run). The kids seemed more suited for the roles this time, and it will be neat to see them age/grow up with the roles. In all truth though Chamber of Secrets is my least favorite of the Harry Potter books and I still enjoyed it emensly. I’m actually looking forward to the next film (my favorite book) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. (Due out the summer of 2004) It will be interesting to see how they do the casting for this next film. They have done wonderful so far in the first two films in there acting choices (Kenneth Branagh was a wonderful addition to this film as Professor Lockhart), so in the next one it will be equally interesting to see who they will get to play Sirius Black, Professor Lumpkin and who they will get to recast the roll as Dumbledore since Richard Harris passed away recently. Here's todays fun link. It's the Harry Potter Lexicon a site dedicated to everything you wanted to know about Harry Potter and company. OK I’m sounding too much like a Harry Potter geek, so on to the previews.

Star Trek Nemesis – Looks interesting but confusing, kind of think this will be the last Star Trek movie with the Next Generation cast. (But I can’t see them doing a DS9 or Voyager movie) oppps ok geek meter is starting again.

Daredevil – Looks really good, like most of the casting. Even like how they re-did Bullzeye as a biker.

The Two Towers – Ok all I can say is WOW with out sounding like a geek again.

Ok now time to close the balcony (slight at the movie’s reference). Life is still rolling on, tomorrow I’m going to explore Atlanta some more, finally see downtown and maybe look at some more apartments, even though I’m still thinking more and more about a duplex instead of an apartment. (more my style).

So anyway, I’m off to go futz around and start playing more and more with Flash (some new changes coming to the website once I do learn it).

Hope your all well,

Peace

Mike

Ok I’m finally up and running again after a slight delay. I'll quickly bring you up to date real quickly. Since I have been staying at Roy and Ivy’s place I have been living off of my laptop. The Apple ibook has a decent battery but it doesn't last forever so I have a power cable, to recharge it. Well basically since I purchased the laptop in April the housing for the connector of the power cord has been lose, last week it finally broke off. So I was stuck without any way to recharge my computer. But the good people at Apple computer (shameless plug) finally decided to replace the cord for free. So it was just a matter of time to get back up and running. Now all I have to do is figure out how to fingure out how to get the nice people at Sony to send me a new PS2. (Nudge, Nudge, Wink, Wink)

Things here in Atlanta are still pretty status quo; I have been sending the typical five or six resumes a day, but never hearing anything back. I have been keeping a great positive attitude and trying to remain upbeat about this move. I have a feeling something will be happening real soon and will probably have a few different offers hitting me at once (hey a guy can dream can’t he). I’ll also start up the hunt again to check apartments, I want to find something unique, and I just can’t see living in something box like. I’m even playing with the idea of renting a duplex or part of a house. I just want something that will be safe for William and I, but funky enough to feel comfortable in.

Tomorrow I'll have a review of the new Harry Potter movie, my sister saw it tonight and said it was great. She liked it a lot more then even the first one. So it should be cool to see. The joy of being unemployed or self-employed (depends on your point of view) I get to see movies during the day for cheaper prices. Woo hoo.

Hope your all doing well, and will talk to you soon

Peace

Mike
