Hey all, the internet finally got fixed about an hour ago (it's now 1am on the 9th actually). It's just been frustrating dealing with the cable company about getting me back the wired world. I have been suffering from a kind of lack of information sensory overload. It's been interesting the last few days with every evening after evening of Thunderstorms, and of course with the storms comes the humidity also. I can't believe how spoiled in Seattle in not having to worry about air so thick that you could cut it with a knife. I have finally broke down and turned on my air conditioning tonight in the apartment. A few friends have already told me that I haven't seen anything yet. Wait till late July / early August they all say. Gee another thing I guess I'm happy to be on the east coast about. LOL.

Ok it's late I'm out of energy tonight, I just installed a wireless network in my apartment so I can now use my laptop to communicate with the big computer again, it was quite cool surfing the net and sitting on the couch at the same time. Ok I better get some sleep, my inner geek is really starting to hit. On Sunday night I'll have a full update including my review of X-2, the X-men sequel, and will also try to see the movie 'A Mighty Wind' ' the film from the same people who brought you 'Best in Show'

Anyway, I'm out of here. Sleep is calling, and the Sandman is coming down the hall trying to chase me off to dreamland.

Take it easy, and I'll talk to you all soon

Peace and friendship always

Mike

Hi All, Just a quick note for right now. We have been having really bad thunderstorms, high winds and flooding here in the Atlanta area for the past few nights and my internet has been kind of iffy, so I have a full update ready to go, but no bandwidth to post it live right now. Hopefully will have it up tomorrow night.

Talk to you all soon

Peace and Friendship Always

April 30, 2003

Well we are going to start calling the current state of my life “Apartment Disaster 2003 – The Attack on Mike’s Pad”. As of today the bathroom is still a disaster. I’m not even sure if the maintenance people have even come by and taken a peek at the damage from last night’s flood. Tomorrow will be a real test for me, since the power is out in both bathrooms, it will be interesting to see what it will be like to shave and shower in the dark. Hmmm I didn’t really want an un-sliced face anyway. Maybe shaving by candle light?

This past weekend went quite well but was very busy, Judy and I went on a road trip to discover the south, well ok, maybe not all of the south, but parts of Alabama and a lot of Tennessee. I had heard for years about this place in Alabama that all the “lost luggage” in the word ended up in. It's a giant warehouse in Scottsboro, AL called Unclaimed Baggage. So we hopped in the car and headed off to the country. So after an uneventful drive through the mountains of Alabama we reached this building that resembled a mix between an airplane hanger and a Wal Mart. It stretched out with racks and racks of clothing, books, cd's, luggage, shoes, strollers and lots of other nick knacks. In all truth I would recommend it for a one-time visit, it’s very kitschy, almost like going to a giant thrift store. The thing I had going through my head was, “oh my god how did they fit this in the luggage”, ok I was also thinking “Where’s all the Adult stuff found in the luggage”, but then Judy reminded me that we were in the heart of the bible belt, and they probably discarded all that stuff strait to dumpsters. Damm, why did she have to always be right?

The Jack Daniels GangAfter we left the Unclaimed baggage with our hands full of goodies we decided to drive up into Tennessee and visit Lynchburg the home of Jack Daniel’s whiskey. By the time we finally reached the town (another great road trip through the country) it was too late for the tour, (open daily 9 am to 4:30 pm) we decided to just hang out for the night and see what kind of trouble we could find on a Saturday night in central Tennessee, let me tell you this, the greater Lynchburg area is an area that they completely roll up the sidewalks at 5pm. Hell we couldn’t even find a decent movie theater (we wanted to try and see ‘A Mighty Wind’, the movie by the same people who did ‘Best in Show’). So we ended up just doing dinner at some Mexican restaurant, where a guy who did a lot of Hispanic versions of some major classic rock songs serenaded us. On Sunday morning / afternoon we finally headed down to the Jack Daniel’s Distillery for the tour. I was actually really impressed by the overall tour (lasted about an hour and a half) and what they go through to make whisky. We had planned on getting a few gallons of the famous beverage after the tour to bring back as gifts, but good ol’ Tennessee has blue laws and didn’t sell alcohol on Sundays. Above is a picture of our tour group. I’ll be posting more photos from the trip over the next few days.

Yesterday was also an eventful here in Atlanta; we actually had an earthquake here in the deep south, the media blew it out of proportion as expected. 'Earthquake 2003 - where were you when it hit'. It was actually only a 4.9 quake that hit at 5 a.m., and to be honest with you I slept right through it. It was so funny hearing everyone at work saying, “oh my god, I thought it was the end of the world” or “I thought that damm cat jumped on the bed again”. Way too funny. I have had friends from the west coast already writing me and let me know that we were a bunch of wimps. “4.9, hell that’s nothing worth sweating over”. Yes that’s true but this is the south, and they probably thought it was the second coming of General Grant. I'm not even going to get started about Monday's celebration of Confederate Memorial Day here in Georgia.

Anyway my eyes are becoming like slits, so I’m cutting off for tonight.

Speaking to you from Apartment Disaster 2003

Peace and Friendship always

Mike

P.S. Oh yeah, don't forget that our buddy Odd Todd has written a book called 'Odd Todd Handbook: Hard Times, Soft Couch about his unemployment adventures. You can purchase a copy of his book at Amazon.com for only $11.19 and help out a good friend of Fabersplace.com at the same time. He has also posted a new cartoon on his site trying to hock his book.

April 29th, 2003

Hi all, had all good intentions to write a full update tonight. Lots of things to talk about, and stuff that's just been on my mind lately, but when Judy and I got home tonight we came in to see my bathroom floating in six inches of water. It seems that my upstairs neighbor's washing machine flooded during the day and drained through my ceiling into my bathroom. So to say I have issues is an understatement. Will give you full details tomorrow night, hopefully.

Hope your all doing well and staying dry, (oh great the water shorted out the electricity in my other bathroom also. Woo Hoo).

Talk to you later

Peace and Friendship always (except to my upstairs neighbor)

Mike

April 23, 2003

Here we are back again together at last like two long lost friends. Hey how's it going? You doing ok? Watcha you been doing? Are you getting out and enjoying the spring? Has your fancy turned to love? Have your allergies pretty much kicked your butt half way to Sunday? Me, Oh I'm doing all right. Ok enough of the small talk. Yeah I'm back; yeah it's been about a week and a half since my last update. I really don't have any excuses to why I haven't updated the site, I have just been busy working, trying to make some kind of social life for me down here in Atlanta and of course observing the best our society has to offer. Hey it wouldn't be me if I didn't have some kind of observations on what's happening around us, and the effects it as on me and my surroundings.

To kick off our adventure the first sign that the world is coming to an end is upon us now. Last Monday night fox aired a brand new 'reality show' called Mr. Personality, in which one woman has 20 men to choose from. Simple you would think until the true premise of the show. The show is to prove if someone can fall in love with the man inside, and to do this they basically keep these men in full masts to hide there face and hair from the contestant. To describe these masks that they have to wear is kind of a cross between a Mexican wrestling masks, and kind of a bondage mask (for those not familiar think of 'the Gimp' from Pulp Fiction). I was only able to sit through about 1/2 hour of this garbage of a show, and to top off this wonderful treat it hosted the ever-vivacious Monica Lewinsky, ok like you couldn't see this career choice coming for some time for her. As the show went on I just felt my IQ flying out the door, this just shows that they literally put anything on TV. Please for the love of god this trend has to spot somewhere. *Update* it's just been announced on CNN that OJ Simpson is going to have a reality show kind of the same format as the Osbournes. Ok now I know the end is near.

Of course this time of year marked a Jewish persons favorite times of the year, when all you can eat are tasteless flat cracker type objects called matzo (also referred to in some circles as roof tile), your restricted from eating any kind of unleven bread, any kinds of grains, and lots of other restrictions that probably I don't know half of (hey at least I admit it). What am I referring to is of course is the Jewish holiday of Passover, most people even non Jews know the history of this holiday, thanks mostly to the movie 'the Ten Commandments' (Yule Brenner as Pharos was the bomb), and of course the old testaments. For those who don't know it's basically a holiday to celebrate the Jews freedom rising from slavery and leaving Egypt. Ok that was the cliff notes version of it, if you want to know the full story of the holiday click here. Every year it's a tough task in today's society to keep parve (kosher for Passover) I try to keep it each year. Most of the time though it's actually tough, since you have to almost read all the items in everything you eat. It actually ends up I drink a Coke or a Snapple that has corn syrup in it. This year I did actually make it four days before breaking it, which is pretty good for me. Don't think badly on me, at least I try. That's pretty good compared to a lot of people know. Ok don't know why I went off on that last part, but it sounded good.

It's kind of interesting now that the 'War' with Iraq has passed, how as things get back to normal (what ever is normal, I know) that all the weapons of 'Mass Destruction' have still yet to be found. I think Dennis Miller said it best, 'Don't you think that after all this time the US Military would of found all of these stock piles of chemical and Nuclear weapons at Adam's disposal. Hell on TV each week the cops on 'the Badge' plant drugs on suspected perps, the Marines could always just happen to have a vial of Anthrax conveniently slip out of there pockets, and one of the soldiers go hey look at we found..' makes you wonder, it really dose.

Ok, I'm back now. Lot's of other stuff going on but will talk more about that tomorrow. Here's to looking at you kid.

Peace and Friendship always

Mike

P.S. I almost forget to mention that Dan Faber's band Red Handed played their first 'gig' last Saturday night, click here to take a peek at the pictures of the show. Was quite fun and the band kicked some majoy butt.

P.P.S. We lost a member of the Faber Family last week; my aunts dog Pete (who was like her child) had to be put down after a wonderful full life, Carol wrote a very nice piece dedicated to him take a peek below:

Pete the Dog was so many things to me- my buddy, my child substitute, my partner in adventure (oh the places we've gone and the things we've seen!), my sweet silent consoler, my cheerleader, a clown, a motivator - but the greatest thing I think Pete was to me was a teacher'he taught me about compassion and unconditional love and helped me understand what was truly important in life.

Right from the start he began working on my heart, which had become hardened from too much hurt and loss. Like any great salesman, he slowly and methodically began to chip away at any resistance until he eventually closed the deal and won a contract that lasted his lifetime'the terms went sort of like this'.if Pete wanted it'..he could have it'no he should have it' and he got it.

Nothing was too good for Pete'a sirloin at an outside café in Manhattan, a lake cottage in the country, a house in the burbs with a 100 acre park to roam' From his Burburry field coat which he would never wear to his water therapy sessions ' Pete chose his person wisely. I was an easy mark and he knew it from the start.

Being a working dog (no one could 'work' a crowd a better) he developed admirers in our office neighborhood. At Bryant Park the guards would play fetch with him on the lawn where no dogs were allowed and the restaurant chefs would bring him venison and beef shanks. He would get bagels from the coffee guy and cookies at the drug store. Yes, Pete knew how to make friends. Was it his good looks or his charm? Actually he was very clever. He was clear and focused - he knew exactly who had something to offer and was relentless until the goal was achieved.

Pete's ability to get things (mostly food) from people was remarkable. My sister-in-law Pat was trained to go immediately to the refrigerator upon Pete's arrival ' find some tasty morsels of chicken or beef, cut it up and present to Pete for demolition ' all within a matter of minutes. My neighbors Susan and Steve didn't even have a dog but always had a stash of jumbo milk bones on hand for Pete. His skill was so remarkable that he won the highest of compliments- interspecies behavior modeling - Lucky the cat now eats beef filet and burgers and all sorts of other 'unfeline' type fare'.because he learned from the greatest'.

Yes, Pete had a good gig '.he chose his person wisely, but I always felt that he gave me much more than I could have ever given him. He will forever be in my heart'and I am a much better human for having known him. You will be greatly missed my little bear.

April 14th 2003

Hi all, well here we are the middle of April already. It just seems like time is flying so fast my head is just spinning. It just seems like it was yesterday that I was doing my taxes and playing with William…ummm wait a second that actually was yesterday. Let me think how to start a little better. Mid April usually brings a lot of stress brought to you by our friends at the US Government, yes the time that just the word puts ice into people’s veins “Tax Time”. I have at least a dozen friends making the annual mad dash to the post office on the 15th of April to get their tax returns out on time. I’m not really one to talk, I’m always a tax procrastinator and usually think “I have more then enough time", then the results are on the weekend before the due date I’m scrambling like a chicken with my head cut off through my files and desk to gather W-2 forms and receipts that I collected over the year. But this year I was actually prepared and had a real professional who knew what they were doing help me out. Thanks Jay.

On Friday night I went to see the movie “Bend It Like Beckham”, an interesting mix of Hindi Film and English soccer film. The film had a very basic plot, young Indian Woman wants to join the local soccer club, but Mum and Dad are way to traditional to let their daughter play a "sport". So throughout the movie she goes behind her parents back to play the game she loves oh so much, but keeps on getting caught by her family. The story was kind of predictable, but the actors were very likeable and the viewer could kind of relate to what they were going through, kind of ala 'Big Fat Greek' Wedding where you can interchange the ethnicity to one you relate to. If you get a chance to see the film I would recommend it as a rental or a matinee.

Then after the movie some friends and I went to one of those new trendy type fusion / Asian restaurants / bar with the such an original name of Twister. I should of ran screaming when they said it was a 2 hour wait for a table or we could go into the bar and have dinner. Well the bar was packed with what I like to call 'the Beautiful People', people who just go out to be seen, I actually forgot people like these actually exist. Within seconds I got massive flashbacks to my early 20’s and going to all the “hot spots in Washington DC” to a point in my life where I actually cared about being "In". Instead of letting this situation get really bad I decided that it would be better to just sit back at my table and do what I do best – People observations and laugh at the really pretentious individuals in the bar. For then next two hours we had the joy and excitement of watching a parade of Women showing way too much skin, older men trying to look 20 years younger (enough gold chains to tow the Titanic back to port), or people trying to look like something that fell out of Vogue Magazine. Through out the meal people were bouncing into our table or drunks came up to us trying to score some free food off of our table and bombarded us with wonderful drunken views of life. Ah seeing restaurants like these makes me think “God I love being in my 30’s and becoming self confident.” Overall the evening was quite enjoyable and now have enough of the "In Crowd" that I really now don’t need to return to a place like that for another 10 years.

In the world around us, the “war” with Iraq dose seems to be coming to a close, (I use the word "war" very loosely). Now President Bush is now searching around for his next conquest. It’s going to interesting to see what excuse the government is going to use to go to “war” against Syria or North Korea. I’m thinking that right now a lot of the world has seen how quickly the US defeated Iraq, and looking at us with baited breath. If we start going after another country (especially a middle eastern country), a lot more anti US resentment will be stirred up, and could then draw more countries into a battle that could just escalate out of control. Just a thought to ponder, dose President Bush see the US as a new “colonial power”, almost as the great police man of the earth. The thought just scares the hell out of me, now you know another one of the many reasons I don’t sleep at night.

Ok that’s enough ranting for one night. I hope your all well, and I’ll talk to you soon

As always Peace and Friendship always.

Mike

April 13, 2003

April 9, 2003

Mike the BowlerWell, well, well - look what the cat dragged in. Yeah finally I’m back on to a schedule to be able to able be alive enough at night to do the updates for the website. It’s not like I haven’t had stuff on my mind to talk to you about, but I have just been running around like a chicken with my head cut off for the past week or so. I always have good intentions to start doing the updates but sleep is kind of important also.

Hmmm where to even start? Well it kind looks like the “war” in Iraq is already coming to a close. Think about it though this has been one of the quickest “wars” in the history of mankind. Three weeks and we are already in Baghdad that has to almost be a record. One interesting thought though in most wars the concept is to capture the commander of the enemy, but in this case with Iraq, it seems like the US has never ever wanted to bring Saddam Hussein in alive, from the very beginning they have been bombing the heck out of him, almost like it was a vendetta. Hmmmm, think about it. Avenging George Sr.'s greatest defeat, I wonder if an attack on Bill Clinton could be next. It’s interesting to think about how much passion this issue has caused around the world. It used to be that you were able to speak your mind on political issues and it was accepted, but over the past year it seems like if you speak out against the war or the president you are labeled un-American. There doesn’t seem any room for any kind of middle ground anymore. It’s either your for the war or against it. No in-between at all. Yes some of the people that have been coming out against what our country has been doing are a little bit out to left field (like such celebrities as Martin Sheen, Mike Ferrell, Susan Sarandon, Eddie Vedder and the Dixie Chicks) but now that a new "black list" has started it’s feeling a lot like the 50's communist hearings again. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m living in the "DEEP" south or if it’s the feeling around the country but things are just getting more conservative as things go on. Very scary my friends, very scary.

The Faber's 2003This past weekend was Dad’s 60th birthday, yes you read that right my dad, and Mr. Dead Head himself has hit a major milestone. Max actually put together and ended up pulling off a great surprise party for Ira. Good job Max. The only worry was that would it be too much of a shock to him, but it all came across wonderfully. The only thing that would of made it perfect would have been having William come along, but I figured it was smarter to have him really meet his dad’s whole side of the family on his "turf", and will happen probably in July. (maybe sooner if his grandfather comes down to visit in May, more to come on that subject). Overall it was a great visit seeing my family, my adopted family and also fun hanging out with Diana on Saturday. I'll have a few pictures from the weekend up tomorrow. I hope you like them.

Well that’s about it for tonight, I'm glad to be back on. I’ll talk to you all soon

Peace and friendship always

Mike

Guess Who..

Here's tonight's funny..

"TRYING TO HELP"

By Dennis Miller

All the rhetoric on whether or not we should go to war against Iraq has got my little brain spinning like a top. I enjoy reading opinions from both sides, but I've detected a hint of confusion from some of you. Maybe this can help.

As I was reading the paper recently, I was reminded of the best advice anyone ever gave me. He told me about the "KISS" method ("Keep It Simple, Stupid!"). So with this as a theme, I'd like to apply this theory for those who don't quite get it. My hope is that we can simplify things and recognize a few important facts.

Here are ten things to consider when voicing an opinion on this important issue:

  1. Between President Bush and Saddam Hussein ... Hussein is the bad guy.
  2. If you have faith in the United Nations to do the right things, keep this in mind: the UN has Libya heading the Committee on Human Rights and Iraq heading the Global Disarmament Committee. Do your own math here.
  3. If you use a Google or Yahoo search and type in "French Military Victories," don't be surprised if your computer panics at its inability to respond to your inquiry.
  4. If your only anti-war slogan is "No War For Oil," hire a pit bull lawyer and sue your school district for having allowed you to slip through the cracks and robbing you of the minimum education that any non-troglodyte deserves
  5. You can take this one to the bank: Saddam and bin Laden will NOT seek UN approval before they try to kill us.
  6. Despite common belief among some, Martin Sheen is NOT the President. He only plays one on TV.
  7. If you are antiwar and even an outright "America Basher," to bin Laden you are still an "infidel" whom he wants dead.
  8. Be careful: if you believe in a "vast right-wing conspiracy," but not in the danger that Hussein poses, the only job you may be able to get is as an Ivy League college professor.
  9. Even multi-culturalists who try to browbeat us into believing that all cultures are equally deserving of respect have trouble explaining the past 500 years of Islam.
  10. Whether you are for or against military action, our young men and women overseas are fighting to defend our right to speak out on these issues. They deserve our unreserved support.

I hope this helps.

March 31st, 2003

Hi All,

First off I wanted to thank everyone who wrote me with advice on what I should of told William when we saw the Soldiers getting sent off to war. I had about thirty different responses to my question. The thing I noticed in all the different messages was a recurring theme, which I ended up agreeing with and actually did use on him. What people actually kept on telling me is that "William is still way to young to know what war is". From that point on I actually then got many other things I could of told him. Some people thought I should of told him they were going to a parade, or that they were just there to see the airplanes take off. What I actually did tell him was "That they were going far, far away to help people that needed it". He was happy with the answer and we went on our way. Thanks to everyone who helped with the answer.

The weekend went pretty well, for a weekend that was supposed to be nice and relaxing, god I just love it when things don’t go as planed. The only night I was actually home to relax was Friday night (well I actually had plans for that too but that got canceled at last minute). The rest of the weekend was spent running around going to yard sales and used furniture shops and such. Sunday night I actually went with some friends to go see the political satire group The Capital Steps. The Steps are a group of former Capital Hill pages that have taken up comedy. It was quite an enjoyable show with them making fun of our favorite punching bag George W. Bush, the war in Iraq, and the different color terror warning symbols. Quite fun.

Old SchoolAlso over the weekend I finally got to the movies and saw the film “Old School”. Yes the movie was pointless and silly, but hey it was perfect movie to go see with all the crap that is going on in the world. Three former college buddies, now in their 30s, are unhappy with their lives and try to find fulfillment by reliving their college glory days. The three move into a house not far from their old college campus and start their own fraternity, where parties rage, anything goes. The movie had a really great-assembled cast featuring Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell. All were featured very prominently throughout the movie. This movie doesn’t try to capture or copy any previous college comedy (and it had a lot of chances to). Some really classic scenes and a great parody of the Graduate. Overall a very enjoyable film worthy of a try, if you want some crazy fun, I do recommend it.

The news in the world is interesting and getting stranger all the time, just remember it will pass soon, and we can start making fun of the President once again.

Oh yeah, forgot Dan’s band Red Handed has released their second single 'Breaking Me Down', click here to download it.

I’ll talk to you all soon

Peace and Friendship always

Mike

March 27, 2003

Ok here is something that I have been meaning to bring up the last couple of days. It is both a comment and a question for you. On Sunday William and I went to the airport to go watch the planes take off and land. We had a fantastic time and just had a blast. It was so incredible seeing the joy and excitement that watching the airplanes brought him. Now here comes the comment and question part. On the way out from the airport we passed six-parked charter busses filled with Amy soldiers ready to be shipped out. Of course it caught both our attention, and William asked me ”Da da, why are those army men dressed like that and why are they riding a bus at the airport?” This is where my dilemma came in. What should I have told William? Remember he’s only three years old, and doesn’t understand what war is at all. Drop me an e-mail and let me know what you think, I should of told him. Tomorrow night I’ll tell you what I ended up telling him, and listing what advice you guys and gals have given me.

On a lighter note, have you ever wondered how good your government is at protecting you, and bringing bills to law that can help you live a worry free life. Well the state of Georgia is pursuing such a bill that they feel can bring peace and happiness to the fine people of our state. Is it a tax cut? No. Is it a new highway to relieve traffic? No. Is it a stimulus package to help stimulate our economy? No. Rep. John Noel of Atlanta filed a bill on Tuesday to make it illegal for any restaurant not to serve Sweet Tea. Yes my friends you heard me right, Sweet Tea. A supposed southern delicacy, for those who are not from the South East United States and have no clue what Sweet Tea is; it basically is what it sounds like. A very sickly sweetened ice tea that could only be liked by someone who grew up with it. It’s like drinking pure sugar, I could see going into a diabetic shock by drinking too much of it. (The opinions stated above are of Mike alone, not the rest of the staff of Fabersplace.com -- Thanks The Staff) If you want to read the full story about your government dollars at work, click here.

Well that’s about it for tonight. I hope your all doing well, and I hope to hear about what your opinion on what to tell a three year old about the war.

Peace and friendship always

Mike

March 25, 2003

Just when you think that maybe this whole war with Iraq is on the up and up something really stupid happens. To be fully prepared for when the US army beats Sadam Hussein, and the rebuilding process of Iraq has started. One of the first contracts awarded was for a company to run the oil refineries, and low and behold the award went to Halliburton. For those out there who don’t know the history of Halliburton, it is a Texas based oil company who former chairman just happens to be the current Vice President of the United States of America. Hmmm what is wrong with that picture? Could we say a major conflict of interest? Hmmm maybe now we know who has been behind the war?

On a more uplifting theme life here in Atlanta continues to amaze me. The weather over the past few days has been fully incredible. Sunny and the 70’s how could anything be wrong with that. Well there is already a price to pay for the wonderful weather. It’s called pollen. Or as the locals call it, the green coat, it’s like either we got hit with a giant green snowstorm or that the jolly green giant had a really bad case of dandruff. I actually took the time to actually get my car washed, and low and behold two days later it was covered in this fine green powder, that’s almost impossible to clean off. My friends have told me that this is just the beginning; sometimes the pollen gets so bad you can literally write your name in it. Thank god for no allergies.

Tonight’s interesting thing to think about, the movie “Adaptation” has the writing credits of Charlie & Donald Kaufman. In the film Nicolas Cage portrays both characters quite skillfully. But in real life Donald Kaufman is just a made up character by Charlie, in other words, the oscar could of gone to a non existing person if they won an Oscar. Just a little something to make you go Hmmmmmm.

Keeping you on your toes as always

Peace and Friendship Always

Mike

March 24, 2003

Well here we are another fun filled week ahead if us. Gee so much going on in the world it’s almost enough to make one’s head spin if you let it. Do I really want to talk about the war? Do I want to talk more about the protesters around the world? About, how the American economy is drowning further and further into debt? Do I want to talk about the Oscars last night and how ‘Chicago’ pretty much swept the award gambit. Hmmm where to start, where to start?

You know sometimes it’s so damm hard to decide when you just have so many options. Kind of like a kid a candy store.

Well like predicted since last I wrote, we have started George Bush’s avenging of his daddy’s honor, with an actually very well planned total destruction of a country. No I don’t mean the U.S.A. but I mean Iraq. I will fully go on the record and say I don’t agree with what’s going on our President and his decisions, but once he committed to sending troops to the Middle East and invading Iraq everything got thrown out the window. Yea I could be out and protesting against the war and saying that this is battle is being fought for all the wrong reasons. Yes I do think that a lot of it is true, but it also needs to be understood that a lot of young people are fighting in what they believe in also. I don’t have to agree 100% in this thing but I do have friends over there now, and they do have my support and prayers. I just want to close this in saying that George W. got his war-game, hopefully the people out there won’t be fooled though and demand that he starts helping the people that really need it, I don’t mean the citizens of Iraq. I mean the people of the United State of America.

Last night I wrote about Michael Moore’s outburst last night at the Academy Awards ceremony. I’m still feeling very appalled about the way it came down, but the one rectifying moment to counter act Mr. Moore’s outburst was the acceptance speech of Adrien Brody for best actor. It was peaceful and quite elegant. The most interesting moment of the night I found was when Roman Palanski won best picture for ‘The Pianist’, everyone stood up for a standing ovation and then realized that he wasn’t even there. Of course though if he even did consider showing up he would have been arrested on site. (FYI, if you didn’t know) Mr. Palanski has had a very tough life. He had a very successful career as a film director in the Europe and the US. But then the Manson Family murdered his wife Sharon Tate in the late 60’s (Yes that Manson Family). Then a few years later when he was starting to get his act together he was accused of raping a minor and he fled the country back to Europe, and hasn’t been back since. So hence, no Roman Polanski at the Academy Awards. I was not surprised that ‘Chicago’ won everything, but I totally got blown out in my awards pool. DOH! For a full a list of the winners click here.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and got to spend a lot of it outdoors.

Here’s today’s question. How many licks to the center of a tootsie roll tootsie pop?

Ok, I’m out of here.

Peace and Friendship always

Mike
